How to use Writing Tools to shape your podcast copy
It’s easier than ever to refine your next podcast script, promo copy, show title, or episode description with built-in Writing Tools on your Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Powered by Apple Intelligence, these tools are accessible in the Notes app, Pages, Messages, and Mail.
1. Proofread and clean up text.
Select the text you want to polish, right-click (or Control-click), then choose Writing Tools → Proofread. Apple Intelligence scans your words, highlights issues, and offers suggestions—spelling, punctuation, and grammar—complete with simple explanations and easy undo options.
2. Rewrite with tone that fits.
Want to make your show notes more conversational, crisp, or formal? Use Rewrite and then pick a tone: Friendly, Professional, or Concise. You can also write your own instruction, like “Make this more upbeat” or “Shorten this intro,” and it’ll give you a fresh version.
3. Summarize and reformat quickly.
For episode breakdowns or summaries, selecting text and using Summary, Key Points, List, or Table can rework your content into more usable formats—perfect for recap sections or important episode highlights.
4. Use ChatGPT to get your creativity flowing.
When you need a creative spark or a starting point, the Compose tool acts as your brainstorming partner. Use it to generate ideas for headlines, teaser text, episode suggestions, or initial drafts for introductions. Type directions like “Suggest five engaging titles for an episode on mindful productivity,” or “Give me a few angles for an intro about productivity apps.”
Apple’s AI (with optional ChatGPT extension) will provide initial concepts or brief drafts. These are designed as springboards for your own creativity, allowing you to shape and refine them with your unique voice. Always give responses a quick read to ensure it aligns with your vision and intent. To turn on the extension and learn about availability, see Use ChatGPT with Apple Intelligence.
Three ideas to try in your podcast workflow
- Polish your outline. Start with bullet points or a rough script. Use Rewrite → Friendly to make your text more natural—like talking to a friend—then run Proofread for clarity.
-
Turn episode keynotes into promo copy. Select your episode ramble or jot down notes, then use Summary or Key Points. Use those as blurbs for episode descriptions or social media promos.
-
Brainstorm show titles or episode hooks. Ask Writing Tools to Compose a list of catchy episode titles or hooks using prompts like, “Give me 5 engaging titles for an episode on mindful productivity.” You’ll get ready-to-use ideas you can tweak.
