Chapter Art

On Apple Podcasts, you have the option to add chapters to your episodes. Chapters are similar to bookmarks that allow listeners to jump to different parts of an episode.

If you decide to add chapters to any or all of your episodes, you’ll need to provide Chapter Art for each chapter. Learn more about using chapters on Apple Podcasts.

What is the purpose of Chapter Art?

It visually supplements the interview, conversation, or story you’re telling in each chapter. Listeners will see chapter-specific artwork displayed in the Player and on the Lock Screen.

Best practices

These recommendations will help you format your Chapter Artwork for Apple Podcasts. They’ll also help preserve your original design as your art comes to life in the user interface and across the platform.

Use the Chapter Art template. It helps you place all essential design elements within the art safe area.

Fill the entire template with art. Whether you’re using photos, illustrations, or any other graphics, make sure they are high-resolution and fill the entire template.

Optimize your imagery. Use high-resolution images — whether photographs, illustrations, or graphic elements — and avoid abruptly cropped images so your artwork looks its best.

Pay attention to the details. Abrupt image cropping, awkward text overlap, and image treatments can cause visual imbalance or unintended distractions.

Don’t include any Show Covers, logos, marketing copy, or promotional content. Your Show Cover will be displayed alongside your Chapter Art in the user interface.
